Neyla also had a paw pad of hers get a bit skewed to the side if that makes sense becuase she held the leg out to the side a bit (not her osteo leg, the other one that had a wonky toe) and the pads got a bit messed up in general. A gel called Kerasolv helped with the condition of the pads. Anyway, that sounds like it might not be a corn to me. Hopefully the vet can sort it out. I just sand it down every now and then when I dremel her nails. He is tolerating it wonderfully with no digestive issues and appetite going strong. He is scheduled for blood work next Wednesday to make sure he can continue with it. Has not gotten any worse but has not gone down either. He is in good spirits, but the shortest walk tires him out. We are taking it a day at a time, well moment to moment. He does not want to go on walks with my shepard mix, I get the feeling its because he knows he can't go as far. That's ok. Just means more Macho only walks . Once again, the children we saw noticed immediately while adults seldom noticed that she's missing a leg. She had a great time trying to eat the parade candy Last year she snagged a few tootsie rolls...this year she managed to get her paws on some mini tootsie roll pops Thank goodness she has a stomach made of iron! Afterward, she hopped into the little kiddie pool at my mom's place-in all the years I've had her, she has never voluntarily used the pool! I've put her in it and she'll stand there for a moment and then hop out. She also RAN full out in my parents' fenced acre today. We got Gia into the vet today to look at the growth on her foot, and they did say it was just a weird corn. Since it doesn't seem to be bothering her, they just gave us some balm to soften it, and said if it does start to cause issues we'll look into removing it. Glad it's no big deal! My partner brought up the quality of life talk last night. First time she's done that. (Usually it's I who start it). He's seeming to be a bit depressed, and tired. During our talk last night, he turned his head and looked at me as if to say "It's okay mom, I understand" (tearing up as I write this, goodness!). I am not sure if we are there yet or not, but I know we are getting close, and that breaks my heart into a million pieces (yep, here go the tears... flood gates have opened). Although part of me wants to be at the end so I know he will no longer be in ANY pain and will be running free and playing with tennis balls and exploring everything and anything... I'm heart broken that we may not even make it to his first gotcha day (Sept 2). Sorry for being such a downer every time I post it seems. And sorry for not posting much. I'm reading Alice's Adventures in Wonderland to him, he seems to like that at least. When I look at him all I can think of is how much I will miss him.
