Charlies_Dad Posted April 28, 2012 Share Posted April 28, 2012 Shelby went in for a lump removal that grew rapidly under her top lip. We noticed it last week but due to Charlie's illness, we decided to postpone the removal until this week. She went in Thursday morning and we picked her up at the end of the day. All seemed well and she had a little swelling but not much. Fast forward to about 7pm that night (only one hour later) and the side of her face has swollen to egg size. We call out vet and discuss with plans to do hot compresses and put her on Tramadol in case of any pain. Two hours later, her face is even bigger but we stick with the plan. Next morning, her face is now the size of a baseball so we take her back to the vets. They decide to put in a drain and it ends up there is another bleeder. So they had to go back in and kept her overnight. Hopefully sometime today she will be able to come back home. After all this, we question ourselves whether the surgery made sense for a girl who will be 13 in two weeks. The only reason was the fear that it may be malignant but we won't know that until the biopsy comes back. So if you can spare some good thoughts for Shelby, it would be appreciated.
