My heart is breaking for you. I understand. I think Dino would want you to know this: "The love is bigger than the pain. I know your heart is breaking terribly. But I promise you that your pain will subside over time, and our love, our love not only will survive, it will be stronger. Someday the horrible pain will be a memory of deep sadness but our love will still be vibrant and alive. Love is always bigger than pain. When you are hurting, reach for the love and I promise you will feel better."

Yours is a grief shared by so many - you will come to understand how hard it it to put into words, as you return to this thread and post your condolences for others in the future. It hurts like no other, but no one would have avoided the love and joy of sharing our lives with these amazing creatures. I am so sorry for your loss. grouphug.gifgrouphug.gifgrouphug.gif

Ryan, I am terribly sorry for the loss of Dino. It is never easy and the pain is one that stays with us for some time. Hopefully in time you will shed less tears and smile more when you think of Dino.

Ryan, I am so sorry. The joy they give us is beyond words, as is the pain we feel when they leave.

Thanks for the comments, I really do appreciate it. It's still pretty rough, I had to take all the pictures of him off the walls because I just can't look at them. Last night I woke up in the darkness and without thinking I called his name. I've lost dogs before, but it's never been like this. The adventure we shared was truly incredible. We were best buds for almost 11 years and I loved him. I remember the day I adopted him, it was April 20, 2001. We were photocopying the adoption form and I looked over to the rep and said, "I've had him for three minutes and I can't imagine my life without him." Now that it's all over, if I didn't have Bailey to take care of I think I'd want to go with him just so we could still be together no matter what existence that may be.
