robinw
Hi, Treasure has her dental tomorrow morning. I can't remember if it's ok for her to eat her dinner tonight or if she needs to skip it. Does anybody know? Please wish her luck. She's almost 11 years old. thanks Quote Xavi the galgo and Peter the cat. GreyPoopon
My vet says no food after midnight. No restrictions on water. The senior vet in the practice gave me the instructions before the last dental, and he advised no food after 6pm. My vet raised her eyebrows and laughed when she heard that. ETA: Treasure. MP_the4pack
My Diamond lost 23 teeth in one shot. I was tired of the regular vets doing nothing with her teeth when they were obviously bad. So I went to a canine dentist. $3000 and 23 teeth later, Dima came home. After a couple days she was way happier than I had seen her in a long while. Hubcitypam
Between running the greyhound group for 3 years (2 a month for 3 years is 72 and that is probably low) and fostering for all breed rescue groups here I've dropped off and picked up a LOT of dogs for spay/neuter over the years...and perfected the skill of removing spay stitches (and dissolvables that didn't in neuters) with manicure clippers. Of four different vets in Lubbock and more than that with the all breeds here (It is a big group so there are many) no three of them agreeded on pre surgery protocol. There's been: No food after 8, no water after midnight No food after 10, no water after midnight No food after 8, don't pick up water No food after 10,don't pick up water No food or water after midnight I took what they said, and finally started going with no food after 10 and not picking up the water. Has worked well. It seemed the younger vets are more in favor of leaving water down Edited February 8, 2012 by Hubcitypam
