Missing Meals

How many do you let them pass up before you start to get worried?

 

Norm is punky. Didn't finish breakfast or dinner yesterday and passed up both meals today. Still drinking. Nose is cold and wet. Did take and eat a cookie earlier but when we tried again he didn't want it. His tummy is definately bothering him. Right now he's standing in front of me panting and we can see his tummy "rolling", like he wants to throw up.

 

I really don't know what to do for him.

Can you try to get some pepto in him? Is he drinking?

Don't think we have anything of that nature (I drink ginger ale if I have tummy issues) and yes, all else is normal. Drinking. Peeing. Pooping etc.

I would try to get some pepto into him. If it continues through tomorrow I would bring him to the vet.

Pepto also comes in pill form. I really don't have a preference, but that's the name I was thinking of. Pepcid may be better. No idea though.

Pepcid works well. Are you hearing any little squeals that would indicate gas?

No squeals but I'm sure it's his belly. And I hope it's gas.

You can also use Prilosec (Omeprazole). Just one a day

You might also try a probiotic. I use a paste form, but I understand it also comes in tablets. It really seems to help my boy when he gets a little puny. It puts some good bacteria into the gut and seems to make them feel better. I get mine at the feed store.

How is Norm doing now?

 

Sometimes Gas-X works better than Pepcid if you suspect gas. I keep both on hand and a few of each in his travel bag. When I've had to give either to Rocket, there's always a belch a few minutes later. The Gas-X is pretty mild stuff and can't hurt to try, as is the Pepcid.

Sorry guys. I was away for two days.

 

We have an appt tomorrow.* DP has tried scrambled eggs with cheese, hamburg and rice - with and without shaky cheese, and roast chicken. And vanilla ice cream. Nuthin. He has taken a small cookie or two over the past couple of days.

 

He is drinking. He is peeing. He doesn't seem to be in ANY distress. He IS getting wobbly but he hasn't had his deramaxx or tramadol since Saturday.

 

 

*I've waited this long because he HAS done this before. The more DP and I talked about it, the more I remembered. Last time I gave him Gatorade to drink and then lost my mind when he threw up red. Yea-red Gatorade not the best idea....

 

If he was showing any other symptoms or signs of distress we would have gone to the vet already. I'm really hoping we're in a vicious cycle now. He tummy is upset so he won't eat so I can't give him his pills so he's hurting so its making his tummy hurt.

 

 

 

Please. Extra prayers? He'll be 13 this year. I'm really kind of terrified to bring him to the vet tomorrow.
