Newgreymom
Her culture and sensitivity came back today with Proteus Mirabilis. She has been on Amoxicillin 500mg 3x a day since Tues. The vet wanted her on something until the culture came back. Well, now he wants to change to Clavamox which is sensitive to the Proteus. The Amoxicillin is on the list also, just not as quite as "effective". She's doing well on the Amoxicillin and I don't want to change. Is it best to go with the most effective ones on the list? I'm leaving next week for a girls getaway and want to do the right thing.
Batmom
Absolutely, go with the antibiotic that the lab says it's most sensitive to. Be sure you recheck the urine @ 10 days after finishing the antibiotics -- Proteus can be hard to kill.
