Walliered
Please give me a brand of dog toothpaste to use when your grey has conformed IBD. The one I am currently using gives him the big D. Thanks
BootsyCollins
Don't use any - just brush his teeth with the brush, or a tiny bit of baking soda/water Quote Christie and Bootsy (Turt McGurt and Gil too) Loving and missing Argos & Likky, forever and ever. ~Old age means realizing you will never own all the dogs you wanted to. ~
tbhounds
Don't use any - just brush his teeth with the brush, or a tiny bit of baking soda/water Yup-- it's the brushing action that is the most benefit.
LuvAPuppy
I'm currently using PetzLife gel brushing once a week and just painting a little on with my finger a few other times a week and so far so good (since December). Oxyfresh gel once a week was ok but putting the liquid in the water started making her sick after about six months so I can't use that any more. CET was out of the question. Guest verthib
Toothpaste gives Angus the big D too. But since using the Petzlife gel he hasn't had a thing. I got the peppermint one. Thanks to all those who recommended it! Edited January 21, 2012 by verthib
greyhead
Sometimes we use plain gauze pads (vet gave us a package -- they're hard to find in the stores!) to rub down teeth and gums. Other times we use TrueBlue parsley and peppermint wipes. We also can use the Petzlife spray, and the ginger in it is supposed to be good for IBD dogs. The Petzlife gel has salmon in it and messes Spencer up. I'll have to look for the peppermint version! But as others have said, it's the friction and mechanical action that's most important. That's exactly why I didn't get the salmon gel. Also, I was putting it on with my finger but it didn't seem to work well. Now I put it on an electric toothbrush and use that before bed. GeorgeofNE
None. If you really feel you need to brush, just use the brush. Quote Susan, Hamish, Mister Bigglesworth and Nikita Stanislav. Missing Ming, George, and Buck
GreyPoopon
Minnie (two types of severe IBD) has been OK with CET, Vanilla Mint flavour. But it will depend on the individual dog's sensitivities. RobinM
Agreed. My Beau has had IBD since 2009- He can't have beef or chicken. You can just brush. There are vegetable chews- (I have not used them) but you need to check the ingredients. You would not believe how many things have chicken broth in it. Guest verthib
With Angus' issues he's been fine with the Petzlife peppermint gel. But what I'd really like to know is what the name of the stuff is that kills germs and bacteria in their mouth. I had seen it on a previous post but can't find it. I think it's a spray.
