Guest june
I came home at lunch to let the dogs out and Rona let out a scream when I went to put on her muzzle. When I looked she had a bump and some blood on the top of her head. I let everyone outside and started looking and found an upper canine along with the root laying on one of the dog beds; it was at least 3" long. Very little blood anywhere. Checked Angel and saw an open socket where the tooth had come from! It was ugly but not bleeding. I took both dogs to the vet to have them checked out and Rona has a single puncture on the top of her head that is tender to touch. It just needs to be kept clean. Angel lost her right upper canine. Decided to have them check for bone splinters or any damage that might have happened when the tooth came out and close up the socket. She came through surgery fine and they scraped a bit of tarter off her other teeth while she was under. Other than being very thirsty she seems to be doing well. Antibiotic twice daily for 10 days and she should be fine. My vet was impressed by the size of the tooth :lol Anyone else had this happen? macoduck
Happened here. Gracie gave Oliver a blow to the shoulder when they were trotting outside. When Oliver fell his head hit the edge of the patio. I could see a canine tooth dangling and rushed him to the vet. Tooth fell out in the vet's hand. Never had any problems with it healing. Soon afterward I had my own dental appointment. Told my dentist that one tooth felt very loose and OMG it's coming out. I had palmed Oliver's canine tooth and said looky what fell out! My dentist has quite a sense of humor. After everyone stopped laughing she offered to drill a hole in it for me. For now I have a canine pendant. If it happens again I'll have earrings. Guest verthib
Keep muzzles on them while you're gone maybe? Can't believe you were able to find the tooth! You need to put it under the bed tonight so the tooth fairy can come.

She left milk bones! I hope both of your pups contine to heal well.

Guest june
The thing is when I have all three together I do muzzle. This day I put two in one room (they are best friends) and the third in the next room with a baby gate between. Guess I'll have to rethink that. I let everyone out in the snow a bit ago and they were and bouncing like puppies. Guess they are over the ordeal. lovinggreysslp
There is never a dull day in your house!! I am just sorry you did not save the tooth. I can think if several jewelry options you could have had. XTRAWLD
Amazing. Thanks for the story. Glad it wasn't more serious. Love the milkbone payment for the teeth though. kudzu
Finding a tooth that size would be a shock. We have had an incident similar to this but with a toy breed so tiny teeth. In her case she had bad teeth & she was fear aggressive at times. The result was that anytime she truly tried to bite one of the other dogs, rather than her usual snapping, she ended up loosing a tooth. Karma?
