Guest Callonius
Hi, everyone! I've been lurking here on Greytalk for quite a while, but have never posted - so I feel like I already know a lot of you a little bit! My name is Callie. I just graduated with my Master's and I'll be starting my first "big girl" job at Children's Medical Center in Dallas starting in August. I'm still hunting for the right (dog friendly) apartment, but once I find it and get settled, I'm going to submit my adoption application! I absolutely adore everything about the greyhound breed, and I've been doing my homework for months - I've read the Cynthia Branigan book, and the Dummies book, and a couple of others besides. I grew up with a hyperactive dachshund, but getting a greyhound will be the first time that I'll be the sole caretaker for a dog. One question - since I'll be living somewhere close to the Uptown area, is there an adoption group that is particularly active in the heart of Dallas, as opposed to the suburbs? Or does it not really matter which group I adopt from? Thanks in advance, and I look forward to sharing my journey towards bringing home my own retired racer! P.S. Since I've learned about how GTers feel about pictures, here's one of my parent's afformentioned dauchshund, Buffy - the stinker
kamsmom
Welcome from Plano I work for HCA in the Dallas area. There are several greyhound adoption groups and all of them would love to have you adopt. You will be surprised how many people you will meet with greyhounds in the uptown area Greyhounds Unlimited and Greyhound Adoption League of Texas are two large groups in the area. GU has been around for 20 years and GALT has been around for 10 years. Both excellent groups Quote ~Beth, with a crazy mixed crew of misfits.~ Forever and Always missing and loving Steak, Carmen, Ivy, Isis, and Madi.Don't cry because it's ended, Smile because it happened. Before you judge me, try to keep an open mind, not everyone likes your taste.
