Guest Jakestheman
I'm thinking about starting Jake on Melatonin for his separation anxiety. I would only give it to him in the morning before leaving for work so that while we were gone he would be more calm during the day. Any suggestions about what dosage to give him? I'm the type of person that believes medications should be minimized, both in myself and in my dog. I'd like to start with as little as possible to see how it works, but I'm wondering what other people have given their greys. Jake is pretty big, weighs about 85 lbs. Thanks!! momtogeorge
Many will have suggestions for you but the accepted max dosage seems to be 9mg. This is the amount I give my greyhound for his severe fear of thunder and fireworks.
Guest KsFrets
Magnus gets 1.5 mg each morning and evening for hair growth. over a year and a half now and no problems and lots of fuzzy fluffy hair on his once bald buns and chest. We really didn't notice much change in his thunderphobia. On a side note, he had severe SA when we got him. When we got Maggie, his SA vanished and never returned. Guest BrianRke
I give Diamond and Frank 3mg every morning for hair growth. It really does not seem to have any calming effects on them.
maximum
I give Max 3mg twice a day during thunder storm season. Then the rest of the time, I'll often give him one before bed; he gets restless at night (probably due to old age; he is 13) and if there is going to be anything going on that might cause him anxiety. Really helps with his thunderphobia... Quote My boys, together again... A hui hou kakou, my loves
