Dentist mentioned a newer product called SONOS -- it a sealant applied to the teeth at gumline after a dental.......prevents further decay.

Our pretty girl Tessa,. now 11, has majorly gross teethers.

We're wondering if anyone has any experience to share with this or similar product?

Thx,

jayne

Sounds similar to Oravet. Pricey and not worth the money to us.

My vet applied this to Bandit's teeth during his dental last fall as a test of the product, free of charge. He's got the worst teeth of all her clients so she thought he'd be a good candidate.

I have noticed that the plaque buildup is much slower than it used to be. One downside is that it does begin to stain from food etc, so his back molars look sort of orangey but not weird orangey, just darker than they used to be. I think it would depend on what you feed your pup.

I am grateful that she did this because he has developed old age doggie laryngeal paralysis since that time and putting him under anesthesia for further dentals has become quite risky.

No other downsides that I've seen. It's certainly kept his teeth cleaner for much longer than they usually go.
