Guest FullMetalFrank
Well, Miss Jewels dislocated a toe during a coursing event back in May. Three weeks of special bandages are done (picture cotton padding between toes, and a kind of a little "sling" around the two middle toes, then another around the 4 toes together, covered by a final bandage of vetwrap) The toe is looking very nice; but it is a little stiff. So she is getting daily toe massages (I am using emu oil) and gentle stretching exercises. The goal is to return the range of motion to as close to normal as possible. She is a very cooperative patient, and all is going well! In 2 more weeks I will let her do some short, straight sprints after a lure and see how she does then we'll go from there. Hopefully she will be ready for our Fall trial in August. She isn't painful at all (hasn't been since a couple of days after it happened, and I think it was getting the toe popped back in that hurt a little.) Think happy toe thoughts for my sweet little girl!
Batmom
Hoping all goes well! Zema's never dislocated again, even tho once I let her do as she wished, she went right back to spinning on that foot. Silly pups . EllenEveBaz
Evidently she's leaving the bandage alone? Good girl! Quote Ellen, with brindle Milo and the blonde ballerina, Gelsey remembering Eve, Baz, Scout, Romie, Nutmeg, and Jeter
Guest FullMetalFrank
Evidently she's leaving the bandage alone? Good girl! She was awesome with the bandage; only tried to lick at it a couple of times in the beginning and then left it alone. She's a good girl.
