fourofem Posted April 23, 2011 Share Posted April 23, 2011 Sparkle let me know this morning that he was ready. He has been battling an oral tumor and stopped eating completely on Thursday. This has been a really, really bad week. He has been with me for what seems like forever. I think he's been around dogs for so long that he thought he was one, too. He was an expert at testing greyhounds for friendliness. He had some sixth sense and the day Kevin arrived was the last day he came in the kitchen. This past Monday afternoon, he strolled in the kitchen and laid down next to House. He loved stretching out on the front porch taking the sun...he would lay out there for hours. His hunting days were long over but he still liked to hang out under the bird feeder hoping one of them would be dumb enough to land right in front of him. It never happened but he kept trying. He was LOUD....when he was ready to eat he would crank up and not stop until I took care of it. He would only eat the cheapest food and only two flavors....ocean white fish w/ tuna and seafood feast. It has to be the ground kind...if it was minced or chopped, he would turn his nose up, walk away and crank up again. I tried to indulge him in some better foods but he always said 'thanks but no thanks". I'll miss my buddy....he slept with me every night. Nothing seems right around here now.
