Portia's is with us for almost two weeks.day less, and we feed her with Kirkland chicken and rice and vegitables food but I've noticed that her stool is still semi soft, not diarrhea, and wonder if that's normal. How long it takes, from a change of food, for IT to harden up?:)

Thanks from a newbie who loves his princess very much:)

It can take some pups 3 weeks to a month to adjust to new foods. If you're still having soft stools, you may consider changing or adding something to the food. I discovered that some of my pups had soft stools on the Kirkland Chicken and Rice so I added Kirklands Lamb and Rice and the combination of the two proteins firmed up everyone.

Sprinkles had runny stools for about 1-2 months when we first brought him home. We switched food 3 times, eventually landing on Taste of the Wild High Prairie. We picked it because it's grain-free and figured it was worth a try just in case he had food allergies. His poos have been excellent on TotW, so we've kept him on it ever since.

Peet had very soft stools on Kirkland Chicken and Rice (plus bad gas), so we're making the switch to Blue Buffalo Wilderness Salmon (grain free). Poops are definitely firming up, so maybe a switch to a different kind of food will help.

I had one dog that had soft poops unless I supplemented with a scoop of canned pumpkin once per day. I'd say it was = to about 1/4 cup or less that I added. This would be the 100% pumpkin and not the pumpkin pie filling.

your pup is just adjusting to a whole new life. after results at the vet, remember it might take a while for things to settle. some people show it in their gut, it seems like ALL greyhounds show it in thier gut- from my experience anyway. as long as it isn't shooting out like a fire hose, be patient! remember she was most likely just wormed, change in diet, change in water, total change in life style! be patient ;)
