Funnyface Millie, Too Soon Gone.

Yesterday, while I was away at a dog show, I got a call from (couch farm) Sue. She had just taken her sweet Millie to the E-vet. Millie had awoken her very early to go outside to do her business. Then spent the next 2 hours pacing. Seemed better for a while, then it all started again, plus more obvious stomach issues. She took Millie in for xrays.. where they found an "obstruction" in her intestine. They discussed whether to wait or operate, chose the former. When Millie took a turn for the worse around 4 PM, they operated. Found a twisted bowel, that had turned gangrenous. Millie passed around 6PM.

Those are the facts...

But

worth more is the sadness Sue and I are feeling and the sweet memories that Millie brought to her forever home and family.

A happy, playing 5 1/2 year old, just the day before. Enjoying the leaves that had fallen and been raked into piles in her yard. Eating with gusto. Sharing her couch and bed pillows with her "sister" Bankroft, and her two bros. Dexter and Howie (Long hair Doxies).

She was born on the Hevener Farm in 2005 to our wonderful Polly. Her dad was Derby Day, a fantastic racer in Ireland.

Millie came from an amazing litter, but she was held back for breeding. She never did get bred, but with her wonderful disposition, I know she would have been a fantastic Mama.

I whelped her, and watched her grow and mature. Sue adopted her, and gave her love, and comfort. Millie was a joy to be around.

So sad that her little life has been cut so terribly short.

Sue is "computerless" this week, or I'm sure she would have written so much more about her beautiful white and fawn darling. I hope she will post when ready.. She had a hard night and your love will help her bring closure to this sad event.

Thanks

Maxine

I'm so sorry, Maxine. Such a sudden and unexpected less is so horribly painful, especially since it was not that long ago that Sue went through the same thing with her Bessie. Hugs and prayers of comfort to both of you.

Sue's little girl, growing up on the farm. She was about a year old.

Millie will be missed by us all. I will pass along your hugs to Sue.

When Jan told me last night the news, I was so sad. The girls loved playing with MIllie at Auntie Jan's house.

Millie, you will be missed. Run free sweet girl!
