he is also seeing a doggie chiropractor/ message therapist on saturday. ugh. he spent last night whining. then i had to leave the house quickly for about 15 minutes yesterday evening. i returned to find that treasure had eaten a box of shortbread cookies topped with dark dark chocolate that was on the kitchen counter (along with some typhoo teabags). called the vet, she told me how much peroxide to give her and it came out. ever have one of those days where you wish you didn't have dogs? :lol just kidding, i love them.

I have no experience with a Chiropractor but Arco, my Belgian Malinois and Amy were certainly helped by a Vet who did acupuncture! Both had neck problems and a harness helped until they improved. Amy only needed a few treatments and a year of adequan injections and is doing fabulous!

Good luck and I hope that Phoenix feels better soon!

Hope your pup is feeling better soon. Just wondering, did your vet recommend an mri be done. My grey is suffering with his back - just a yelp here and there and my vet sent me to a specialist who wants to do an mri and spinal tap. Cost is 3,600.00. I have not done it yet, just went today, but am thinking of changing regular vets to see if there might be a different approach. Just don't know where I would come up with 3,600.00 right now.

Sparks has back issues, my vet never suggested an MRI

We did an x-ray which shows the 2 spots that are bothering him. He's on restricted activity for the rest of his life (he's 12.5). I goofed today though and he did the happy dance after his poop and started to run around the yard. I'm always outside with him so I made him stop right away. I'm glad he's feeling better but I don't want him to get hurt again.

Sorry for the hijack Robin

no, this wasn't a hijack. i've learned something from your post :)

nothing like MRIs have been recommended at this point. $3600 is a fortune!

I hope your hound, Sparks, and all of the others feel better soon.

Thats funny I asked the specialist couldn't you do xrays. She stated no they would not show a thing. I thought to myself then why do they do xrays on people before they suggest an mri

My unexpert (is that a word?) eye saw the 2 spots in question on Sparks xray.

I would go to another vet which I hate saying but seems like the MRI over the top if your hound is only yelping once in a while. Sparks couldn't walk so it was beyond the yelping stage :(

What state/city are you in?

I am thinking the same. They had told me to give him nothing to eat after midnight. I really thought he would be having xrays. I was not prepared to hear about a 3,600.00 charge for an mri. Can't quite understand why my own vet woud not xray either. He xrayed my other dog for his shoulder.

Sometimes x-rays don't show anything ... but sometimes they do. Worth a shot.

Where are you, where an MRI would be $3,600? Holy petunias.
