Guest Markie
In the thread about ways to keep doggy teeth clean, a couple of members stated that they used the Biotene mouthwash made for humans on their dogs. I've been looking for something to use on my dogs' teeth, so I looked up Biotene and xylitol is the third (I think) ingredient. I thought xylitol was harmful to dogs.. if you are just using a bit of the mouthwash on gauze to wipe your dogs teeth daily, is this not enough xylitol to hurt them? Thanks for any information you can give me!
tbhounds
There is a veterinary formula. I wanted to add that it is recommended by a Board Cert Veterinary Dentist here in NJ Edited October 27, 2010 by tbhounds
Guest Markie
Just to be clear--the veterinary formula is the one recommended, right? Not all Biotene? I'm going to go look up the vet one right now! Thanks!
tbhounds
Some members on this board might use the human version with their vets blessing but, the veterinary dentist here told me to only use the vet formula. I bought mine online.
Sambuca
I would NOT use the human formula. I've heard that even 1 piece of gum with xylital can do major damage.
Guest Markie
Yes, normally I wouldn't even think of using one for humans, but someone on here said they used it,so I wanted more information I found a website with a lot of oral products for dogs, so I am looking into all of those options now. Thanks guys!
