Flash 's Lung X-Rays

Flash and I are home from the oncologist. He has lung mets and the oncologist gave him 1-2 months of spoiling and being the king of everything. The oncologist emailed the pictures over to our regular vet (my dearest friend). Our regular vet says she has seen worse but that the prognosis is probably right on. I HATE osteosarcoma with every fiber of my being right now.

Kyle, I am so happy about Charlie's vet being wrong and his lungs are clear.

Shannon, no....no that is not possible. I am so sorry to hear this. What about Palladia? Have you considered this as an option? While it's not a cure, it has shown some promise to 'control' mets. It's not cheap though, not up here. I was quoted about $350/mth based on Charlie's weight and we are going this route.

Give Flash a huge hug from me.

No! No! No! No! NO!!!! (Temper tantrums can make them go away, right?)

Shannon, I'm so sorry. :( It sounds like there's no doubt?

Ugh, this :censored disease! I hope he has many more months than you expect. The only thing I can offer is the same thing I said in Charlie's thread - there have been some good reports of controlling lung mets with artemisinin. In addition to the oral meds, there's a nasal spray that you can use for lung mets. I know little about that particular option right now, but I can ask around on the board for you, or send you a link. I know you're probably overwhelmed right now, but let me know if there's anything I can do.

And please give the Flashman some smooches and pets from me. :kiss2

I am so sorry to read this. :bighug

It is so hard. In reality, all we have is this very moment to enjoy, yet put a timeline in there and the moment becomes heavy.

I have been where you are and it sukks.

I was told at one time that I had a rare form of bone cancer and 6 months to live (mis-diagnosis). The next day I was driving and another car ran a red light and almost hit me. I shook my fist, used some salty talk and said - you can't do this I have 6 months to live. As soon as I said that I realized the irony of my words and took a much closer look at enjoying the moment.

Sending you :bighug and keeping you and Flash in my prayers.
