Guest dobiegrey
Well the specific blood test that they do for pancreatitis came back today and Jack has pancreatitis! D@*m! So now is is total low fat food and at this moment NO TREATS!! Oh God my boy loves his cookies, they are not terrible cookies but they are too high in fat anything over 5% is too high, ugh, anyone have experience with pancreatitis? any treat ideas? We got the diagnosis and than Jack promptly got ahold of an apple left down by my 2 year old grandson and ate the whole thing , which I promptly freaked and call the specialist who said the apple would not hurt him BUT we really need to be very very careful!!! Yeah I know, I hung my head down and set new rules NO food unless in highchair or in his playroom where the doggies can't go Now mind you these dogs love my grandson because they think of him as a little walking pez dispenser, so it will take some adjustment, at least he is only with me 2 days a week so we will adjust. Any advice would be appreciated, he will be on Royal Canin IVD Digestive Low Fat diet for here on out! Well at least it's a little cheaper than the venison and potato Betty is on, I think I am offically now working the first 2 days of every week to pay for dog food, oh well as long as it keeps them happy and healthy and pain free, I will eat hot dogs more I guess

maggiespet
I'm sorry that Jack is sick but it sounds manageable. My mutt pup needs to be grain-free. I checked out his bag of treats. Canyon Creek Ranch Western Chicken Chips, made in South Carolina, have Min 1% crude fat. He gets these when I'm too busy to make him sweet potato jerkie. He loves them. I get them at a feed store but I'm pretty sure PetSmart carries them. Maybe they could work. Hope you find a treat for your good boy!
