Skin Problem

We live in Arizona and just returned from a couple of weeks in California. Molly was with us, and she had a terrific time with a big grassy backyard and twice-daily walks to the park. While we there, she developed some sort of itch, which neither we nor a vet could not figure out (he did not think it was fleas). We now believe it was that she was getting bitten by red ants when she was in the yard. Since we returned the constant itch seems to have abated.

New problem: Molly, like many greyhounds, has no fur on her stomach. She has been scratching and licking an area in the center of her stomach and we just examined it with a pair of reading glasses and a flashlight. There is an area on her stomach with what could best be described as blackheads, but they don't appear to actually be blackheads. In the center of this is what appears to be a skin blemish or pimple, that looks infected. It does not appear to be a tick.

Any ideas on what this could be? Also, could I put hydrocortisone ointment on it till we could take her to the vet tomorrow? She could possibly lick the hydrocortisone.

The pic does look like blackheads and a pimple. I would probably clean gently with a warm washcloth, mild soap and water, and smear on some neosporin or similar. Hope it clears up quickly!
