Update Eating Grass And Gagging

Very sad to say that our grey was diagnosed with advanced stage of cancer. The gagging was caused by pleural effusion and pressure on his lungs. There was also the possibility that he had cancer of his stomach because of his recent lack of appetite and grass eating.

The clinic offered the option of aspiration of the fluid around his lungs, but there was no guarantee when it would fill again - a day, a week, but his prognosis was only two months to live.

We chose to say goodbye to him in the beautiful and serene garden, so fitting to his personality, to become a cherished memory in our hearts forever.

Thank you to everyone for your advice and suggestions.

It has been a very difficult morning. Shock has given way to horrible grief. Unfathomable emptiness. I have spent the last few hours washing Dasher's cushions and blankets, cleaning his food bowls and rolling up the numerous mats provided when he became a tripod. I'm going to put clean cushions back into his crate and rearrange his favourite toys inside. Can't put his things away yet, as if he never was. I have not yet had the strength to get his collar and leash from the back of the car.

This is so painful.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone for all the words of condolence. It is comfortng to know that there are so many kind and supportive people in the greyhound community.

Anna
