My girls are born and bred AZ doggies. They are acclimated to HOT weather.

Absolutely, but you still must be careful. When we first had Sherman, (and I didn't know any better,) we went to an event in the beginning of summer. He too was a born and bred an AZ dog, and raced here too, so he was also acclimated to the heat. However, he was out with shoes on (that were not very breathable), walking on black asphalt. He got sick, and developed heat exhaustion. We cooled him down with wet towels, and made him stand in some water. (Helps cool them down, too.) He started to feel better, and I got him home. After that he had very breathable shoes, and no more summer events!

Mine hate the pool.... Dear old Billie was the only one who loved the pool.

And it was too stinkin hot to be outside even in the pool yesterday afternoon.

We did go out and I insisted they all go in for a good hosing in the evening.

But...

I've been keeping a spray bottle full of water in the fridge.

Every hour or so all the dogs get sprayed down...backs, neck and specially their bellies.

Heck...I even sprayed myself.

The temp in my kitchen yesterday, late afternoon, was

It was much better today and not nearly as humid.

Nancy, if you lived closer I'd invite you and the doggies over for some cool time infront of my window a/c :lol

Could someone advise on what signs there are if your dog is too hot? Obviously, panting a lot...but are there any other signs that it's too much?
