macoduck
If you operate a kennel- adoption, boarding, breeding or whatever, what do you use to maintain flea control? As dogs come in what are they treated with to rid them of fleas? Do you use a product like Frontline on a monthly basis? Do you rotate products to maintain effectiveness? Use whatever is donated? Have you found an economical way to treat fleas on the dogs and keep your facilities flea-free? Guest Energy11
When I worked at my vet's in Florida, we had a pretty good sized boarding facility. We really had no flea problems, as the runs were all concrete, and were hosed out twice daily and bleached. The bedding was also changed twice daily and washed in HOT water. The dogs that came in that did have a bad flea problem, were given flea baths and then, we'd use Frontline Plus on them. Most dogs and cats, I must say, already were being maintained with good flea control, though. I can truly say, even in Central Florida, our kennel had no flea or ticks! Guest eaglflyt
Comfortis is our best *go to* product these days. We're trying to keep rotating products at this point at home (hoping to keep fleas from building any more product resistance). When we take in a new dog with a bad flea infestation, our group gives baths and also immediately gives either Capstar or Comfortis. At home, we alternate Frontline Plus, Advantage, baths as needed, and Comfortis if needed. We have one Dachsie that has flea allergy dermatitis and skin allergies and we keep her on Comfortis. We still occasionally spray with Adams Flea & Tick mist, but only for a flea or two if they come back in from outside with a couple. Otherwise, Adams Flea and Tick spray lasts about 5 minutes for us! And, as mentioned above, clean and vacuum ... ALL the time. Wash everything in hot water and repeat. It seems we have a bad flea year about every 5 years. This is trying to be one of those years in our area. But thankfully, I've only seen one tick this year! The other thing to remember is that if you have a flea problem, you probably have a tapeworm problem, too. Guest mcsheltie
Any dog that comes in here gets Capstar at least an hour before they get here, whether they are on flea control or not. I rotate my own dogs flea control.

Batmom
For fleas, the one true answer is Capstar as mcsheltie describes, followed by Frontline or Advantage if they aren't already on it. For dogs who might come in with ticks, Frontline spray is good stuff because you can rub some in between their toes etc. where the little boogers like to hide.
