Sure hope it's something treatable and soon. Poor Rocky...and poor you and Ken :grouphug. It's so tough when we know something is wrong with the pups and they are hurting.

Could the hunching and yelping be from pain due to the bunched-up muscle? Shane was acting like Rocky a few months ago, minus the hunching. Finding nothign else wrong, they treated it as pain. After a few days of rest and muscle relaxer, he was fine. Maybe it wouldn't hurt to try something like that?

In any case, hugs to you and scritches to Rocky. I know how hard it is to struggle to help these guys when we don't know what's wrong.

I am so sorry to read this, Heather. I know you do not have a diagnosis yet. It doesn't sound too far off of what we had experienced with Beau at one time. Is he swollen in the spot where there is the lump? If so can they take some fluid to test it?

What about doxy for 10 days? If there is nothing they can find and if they don't think it can hurt him, I would definitely try the doxy. That has saved us on many occasions when we (they) had no idea what was going on.

I'm still waiting to hear back from the vet on the bloodwork, but Rocky is feeling much better this morning, even wagging his tail and not hunching. His symptoms have come and gone in the past so maybe it's just that. He was started on the Antirobe yesterday morning...maybe it's already making a difference? :dunno

Poor sweet Rocky! Yes, he surely does look uncomfortable.

Hopefully a specialist can figure out the problem. Sending you only the BEST wishes, warm hugs and prayers!

Bad words. Really hope specialist can figure out if it's a back/neck thing or something else entirely. And then fix it, of course.

Could it be his neck? Poor guy! The local group had foster dog that was stiff, and couldn't lift her head. Opiate pain meds didn't even really help her- acupuncture nearly completely took care of that girl's problems.

I hope you find some answers soon. Please keep us updated.
