Guest Furmom Posted June 3, 2010 Share Posted June 3, 2010 I am so excited :) Some might remember I posted a couple weeks ago that our non grey Joiya was diagnosed with a mast cell tumor. We brought her to see an oncologist and had a bunch of tests done to confirm that it hadn't spread to any organs (yeah!). She referred us to a specialty sugeon who operated last Tuesday. Now let's just say it doesn't look (visually)pretty but she has been her usual happy self since we brought her home. And then we get the great news today that they got a clean cut all around it!!! They said it was a grade 2... he told me it could act like a grade 1 or could act like a grade 3... which really confused me. Our vet discussed the options of him taking it off to a specialist - so we went with the specialist because it was taking muscle...like I said - not pretty. But she is healing well and happy. Sad thing is I had a lot of doubtful moments whether I was doing the right thing seeing the scars of it all, felt selfish. I think something I have come to is you do the best, make the best decisions - and stuff just happens. Sorry about your Naz, but depending on the grade could have had a lot of happy days. It was grade 3 and it came back about 4 months after surgery to remove it. His quality of life was great on pain meds until the tumor went out of control and ballooned up his leg. The day he spent the entire morning panting in pain was the day I let him go. I had a lot of guilt, but in the end, I feel I made the best decision for him in not putting him through multiple surgeries or amputation.
