I'm curious to know what a daily time line looks like for you.

What is your dogs typical walking, feeding, and potty-time schedule in relation to each other?

Our weekdays look like this:

6:15- William starts making noise to go out (I try to ignore him rolleyes.gif )

6:50- we go out for a morning walk

7:30- he has breakfast

1:30- mid-day walk

5:45- evening walk

6:30- dinner

between 9:15/10- last walk of the night

come home, brush teeth, then a milkbone

he poops morning, mid-day and evening walks, sometimes he'll throw a night poo in to mix things up lol.gif

For weekends we take him for longer morning walks and depending on how we're feeling we may skip a mid-day and take him for an earlier evening walk...

6 AM - Long morning walk / dog park. Potty (pee and poop).

7:15 AM - Return home. Feeding time is about 15 minutes later or so, depending on how hard Molly played or if she did any fast running.

1 PM - Dog walker takes her out for a pee break and short walk.

6 PM - Husband takes her for a long walk after work. Potty (pee and poop).

7PM - Dinner.

9:30 PM - Last pee break and short walk before bed.

After 5 months at home, she is like clockwork now. :)

Times very because sometimes when DH is not working I stay up late and sleep late, but this is the basic schedule even if it's moved up a few hours.

8AM EVERYONE out, except the Whippet (unless he wants to, he usually does not want to get out of bed). I have two that only stay out for five minutes. The rest are out for about half an hour.

8:30AM By now I have my 13 month old son up, dressed, and eating. I let the young dogs that stayed out for half an hour back in. In their crates they go. They have giant Great Dante crates. The three older dogs are never crated. I refresh everyone's water, and put dry food in with the two boys I want to put more weight on. They chew their knuckle bones and eat and drink and snooze.

11AM My son takes his nap. Everyone goes back outside and runs and plays with me and I often take photos. Then back in, all loose.

1PM My son gets up. Oldies are gated in the back half of the house to snooze in peace. Younger dogs play with baby and me, etc.

3:45PM DH comes home from work and plays with my son. I check email, etc. Usually leave around 5PM for the beach with most or all of my dogs. Anyone who is lame, has blown a pad, etc stays home. Not too often.

8PM I get home. Everyone gets a thorough brushing (coated and non-coated!) and look over. They go in their areas (crates, or gated, etc) and I feed dinner.

10PM Last out, then some go in crates and some sleep with me- some sleep on the floor on dog beds. I let them choose. They could all sleep with me if they wanted and could fit. I sit on the computer for a while and around 11PM I usually take my Trazodone. Around 11:45 I have to turn off the computer and give up before I pass out.

And that's it until the next day. I cannot remember the last time one of my dogs needed to go out at night. They don't get up until I get up and only then if I put my glasses on and tie my hair back- that's how they know it's for real and not just a pee break for myself :lol

Badger and I are still hammering out the finer points of our schedule, mostly according to His Majesty's wishes, but our day currently looks something like this:

7am: I wake up. Badger opens one eye and watches me from the beanbag chair, where he has scraped up his entire protect-the-chair-from-claws blanket into a paw-sized ball. I despair.

7:15am: Breakfast for Badger, who is only willing to expend the effort to wake up after he hears the sound of kibble rattling

7:30: I hop in the shower, Badger lazes around doing his best not to die while I can't be paying attention

7:45: Potty break in the backyard. Always leashed, since I have no fence. Depending on Badger's mood, this could be anything from "Walk five feet, pee, proceed back inside to beanbag" to "circle the lawn for twenty minutes until the dog deigns to pee". He always pees in the morning; sometimes poops.

8am: I leave for work; Badger gets his Kong and chills for the rest of the day.

5pm: I arrive home. Badger dances.

5:10pm: Walkies, 20-30 minutes. Pee. Poop 3+ times. Walk ends with me muttering things about how the third poo is always pudding and he's KILLING ME here, dog!

6pm: dinner.

6:30-whenever: bonding on the beanbag, short training sessions, or whatever else we feel like doing. Last night I spent two hours playing "can I touch your teethies?" on commercial breaks to get him used to my hands on his mouth

7:30: optional potty break in the back yard. Pee, never poop.

anywhere from 9:30-11: lights out

Originally, I had at least two more potty breaks scheduled per day - I expected to have to get out of bed and immediately do a potty break, followed by a post-breakfast potty break, etc, but Badger never seems to need to go at wake-up time. Ditto for evening potties - oftentimes once we've had our walk and dinner, he zonks out for the night and I couldn't get him on his feet to potty if I wanted to. He knows he can tell me if he needs out, because he does it on weekends, where our schedule is pretty much totally freeform, but on weekdays he just doesn't seem to feel the need. Never had an accident, so something must be going right.

I aspire to a morning 20-30 minute walk, too, but so far I haven't been able to convince myself to get up early enough to do that and still get to work on time, and Badger doesn't seem to mind much.

Only thing that is scheduled around here is 8:30am to 9:30am everyone gets a turn out, then we have breakfast. 8:30pm everyone eats dinner the rest of the time they are either outside, laying around in the house or going for walks. Midnight everyone is where ever they sleep after a finally potty break and I finally quit for the day. We are retired, that helps a lot.

Pretty much every day...

6:30AM - first turnout

7:00AM - breakfast/2d turnout

Noon - lunch turnout

4:30PM afternoon turnout

7:00PM - dinner/turnout

10:30PM - "last" turnout and the few dogs who sleep in the kennel get crated.

If Ken works really late, he'll do another turnout round 1-2am when he comes to bed.

A 2-4 mile walk is either around 11am or 5pm, depending on work. I take 4-5 at at time and rotate them through. Sometimes I do two 2 mile walks or one 4 miler...it just depends. Sometimes Ken comes and he brings 2-4. I also work out for 30-60 minutes 3-4 times a week and 4-5 dogs get bones while I workout.

(we both work from home)

We have a couple of scheduled, depending on if the DH is home or working. He works a weird schedule, so when he's home, he's up in the middle of the night for norma people!

No DH

7:30am - everybody up and outside for pees and poops

7:50am - breakfast and back outside for any leftover potties

10:30am-12:pm - anytime in this window outside for sniffs, maybe play, maybe potties

2:30pm - outside for afternoon playtime, usually potties, lots of running, playing and digging

4:45pm - dinner, and outside right after for leftover potties

6pm-7pm - chew bone in this window of time, outside for whatever right after

10pm-11pm - last potties, and go to bed

Dad home

5:30am-7am - breakfast in this window, outside right after

same schedule rest of day

additional outside for potties around 1:30AM-2:00AM with everyone spending some night time time with Dad

If we have shopping or errands we usually run them midday which widens the break between morning and afternoon outdoor time. They can go 6-8 hours if necessary but we don't usually leave them longer than 4.

5:00 - 6:00 AM Let them out to romp in the yard while I grab more shut eye.

When I get up - Breakfast and meds, then out again.

10 minutes later - in

15 minutes later - out

and so my day continues until

4:30 PM Din dins and meds.

10 minutes later out

10 minutes later in.

2- 2 1/2 hours later out and then bed .

To clarify - have a large fenced yard with kiddie pool. The back porch was closed in 2 years ago and is now a doggie living room - tiled, windows, French doors and 2 other doors for lots of cross breezes, as well as ceiling fan and doggie door. Spoiled?? No way - they EXPECT it!!
