Microchip

Recommended Posts

Awhile back, we had a pretty lively thread going about microchipping here. I still feel that the benefits of microchipping outweigh any negatives. All of mine are chipped and any future dogs will be chipped.

Currently, WRAP here in So Cal has a whippet that is looking for his owner. He was found with no collar or tags and is not microchipped. It's been over a week and despite our best efforts to find the owner, I doubt we will. If he had been chipped, he would have been home by now.

There are 125 mHz chips and the international 134 mHz. The U.S. uses the 125 scanners so that is what is implanted the most. Hopefully they are transitioned to be able to scan both, my cat has both, the dog probably has the 125, he has the AVID chip.
