So today, I had been asked to assist on a trip to bring a returned dog from Vermont to the Fast Friends kennel in Keene, NH. We met up at 8 this morning and made the 2 1/2 hour trip down there. I had never met this dog, and she laid down quietly in the back the whole ride there. Once we arrived, we took her for a pee, and then sat down in the meeting room for a while, and Tessa wiggled her way into my heart. First she sat on my foot, and then we were both down on the floor with her rolling over for belly rubs and pawing me if I dared to stop. She was clearly focused on me out of the 3 people in the room. As many of you know, I've always had boys, and except for my first one, all my dogs have been seniors. Well, long story short, she made the 2 1/2 hour trip back from Keene to Vermont and is now zonked out in her crate in my living room. Everyone has been introduced, and so far, absolutely no problems. She did get a bath and a nail trim at the kennel while we went to grab some lunch. Long way for a bath, don't you think? This is her 3rd home at age 5. She is as sweet as can be, and jet, shiny black, an absolutely gorgeous girl! ETA pictures. I love it when the hounds choose their humans.... or when your hounds choose the next family member. Those adoptions always seem to stick the best.
