We knew she was ours three years ago, when she slept on DH's lap during the whole SuperBowl that year. She had just gotten off the hauler from Florida and she wasn't going anywhere. DH was in love, and me too, because I had met her at the kennel in Orlando a few weeks before. A year later, on Bonnie's 1st Gotcha day, we were waiting by the phone to get a call from our vet. That call gave us news we never thought possible. Our newest addition, our silly girl Bonnie, had lymphoma at 5 years old. How could this happen??? We never would have thought. Immediate phone calls went out to Dr. Couto, a holistic vet, and internet posts went out on GT, LymphomaHeartDogs and Circle of Grey. All of you gave us the support we needed to pull ourselves up and getting going researching options and treats. We began chemo with Dr. Couto leading the way. What a roller coaster ride...which kept going for exactly a year. Last year, on Bonnie's 2nd Gotcha Day, we were at the vet's to say goodbye. Her little body had fought so hard, but couldn't fight anymore. With everyone at the office sobbing and wiping away tears, we let Bonnie go. It just didn't seem fair. So, Miss Bonnie Twist, I'm typing through tears again on this Gotcha Day, your 3rd. We miss you and think about you everyday, silly girl. I can't quite put it into words, but there was something very special about this girl. Miss Bonnie Twist, you are so missed and will never be forgotten. One thing I am so sure about is that you know how very much you are loved. Please continue to watch over those who love you.
