Trudy
This is on my mom's dog. They noticed it around Christmas. It has gotten bigger since then. Vet just went with "remove it, then figure it out" No suggestion to figure out what it was first.

gryhnd_adoptee
I think it looks like a Histiocytoma too. Our Willa Bean had a big one between her foot pads which came up fast and got real angry. The vet took a glass slide and smooshed some cells from it onto a slide and looked at them. Decided is was a Histiocytoma and gave us two rounds of oral antibiotics, and some steroid drops which we put directly on the cyst several times a day. It shrunk to nothing and went away in a few weeks. They are usually nothing serious, but if left to grow, can break and bleed a lot. We could have had Willas surgically removed, but the vet wanted to take the "less is best" approach which worked just fine. They are also referred to as "button tumors".
