Guest EmbersDad Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 its hard to believe a year has gone by since ember had to leave. we spent over 7 years together. i still remember our first snowfall, a big storm, well over 14". went for walkies and she just went nanners. i had a snow dog :lol i still remember our first visit to the shore...the waves were a scary thing. i remember taking her to see lucy the elephant in margate. one summer i worked for a friends catering company that fed the rock stars when they came through the philly area. whenever the shows were out of town, i was able to bring ember and a crate. she spent a lot of time at hershey park stadium and arena when people like david bowie, moody blues and kiss rocked the summer night. she even saw bette midler and bruce falanche (sp). she was also there for the bad times. she stood with me greeting mourners at my dad's funeral. i owe a debt of gratitude to strifflers in white oak for allowing me to bring her. she stood beside me at his grave when the honor guard snapped to attention as they lifted his casket from the hearse. she barely flinched as the guns went off. i couldnt have asked for a better friend and companion. soon after my dad passed, osteo struck and her work here was finished. it was a cold january morning much like today when she was called elsewhere. i cried my eyes out...real men arent afraid to cry. all the vets and staff were in tears as well. sigh...i miss you girlie, and i love you. dad the first pics i ever got from her foster mom...she looked sad to me meeting her for the first time earsies silly girl the wheel turns.... rycezmom Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 Oh Tom, you were so blessed to have such a remarkable hound in your life. She will never really be gone. She's always going to be with you, guiding you through the hounds that have and will follow her into your life. She whispers in your ear every day, reminding you of the love, given and recieved, between the two of you. It is what makes your heart smile at the way she wanders through your mind in the quiet of the night and when you least expect it. There she will stay, right where she belongs... L.
