I got home from a movie and found my dogs, who never go into the trash, had gotten a hold of a rotisserie chicken carcass, thankfully no leg bones, I have no idea who ate it, but I fed them bread, and walked them, they both pooped and seem completely normal....freaking out and feeling like the worst hound parent...I know they cook the heck out of those things..I won't rest easy until they poop again tomorrow..should I feed them their kibble?

Well this happened to me on Thanksgiving. Opie, my boy who never goes in the garbage, took out the turkey carcass and ate the whole thing! I came here for advice, and I fed him bread and watched him. He seemed fine at first, but then the next day had the Big D and threw up a giant piece of potatoe! After all that, he was just fine, but I learned to watch my garbage can from now on! I'm sure your pups will be fine, but just watch them and do expect some gastric intestinal disturbance tomorrow of some sort!

Haven't had that happen ... yet. Like last night, we had chicken, and I made DH take the bones and carcass out to the outside trash. Curfew did eat a rolled up CET toothpaste tube once. Gave two hot dog rolls and he pooped it out. Yours should be fine. Good Luck!

Thanks everyone, so far so good. I am just kicking myself cause I always take the trash out when I know there's good stuff in it, I gave them bread, and their kibble and today they will be getting rice with their meals.....not sure which one got the most, guess I'll find out.

Don't kick yourself! Things happen. Look, I left the CET tube of toothpaste on the floor, a few minutes later ... gone, down Curfew. Everything should come out fine. If you see blood in the stool or any signs of distress, I'd see the vet, though. Again, good luck!

Relax and don't beat yourself up about it. Most of us have done far worse. Next year, you'll be retelling the story how the little buggers drug a chicken carcass out of the trash and gobbled it all down. Hoping things come out smoothly.
