Guest dobiegrey
Hi I just got Betty a pair of Thera-Paws for sore pads on our out door walks which are mostly sidewalks and streets and she seems to struggle a little with walking in them, she really picks them up and puts them down if you know what I mean, it is really only for one foot and I was able to buy them on ebay for half price, they are a size m/l and I am hoping they are not too big. Just want to see if anyone else's pup had a tough time walking at first with a boot on one front foot and if you have any suggestions to try I am more than willing. CaliforniaGreys
It took Wayne a few days to get used to them. At first he was doing the high stepping. You can tell if they're too big just like you do with a human shoe, feel where his nails end, you shouldn't feel excess in front. Hope that helps Edited December 10, 2009 by cbudshome Quote Missing my little Misty who took a huge piece of my heart with her on 5/2/09, and Ekko, on 6/28/12 For the sick, the lost, and the homeless

Give her a few days, more than likely she'll get used to them Quote Missing my little Misty who took a huge piece of my heart with her on 5/2/09, and Ekko, on 6/28/12 For the sick, the lost, and the homeless
duncan41
Every dog reacts differently when a boot is introduced. Suze has been using one on the right rear for over two years and about 6 months ago, I added one to the left rear. She did some high-stepping initially, but after the first walk, she seemed to "get it". Guest tennesseegrey
Jack had trouble walking on them at first. He still walked on legs the first couple of days. I mainly keep one on him when he's outside and running a lot, but he also throws it off sometimes when he runs, so I have to keep track of where he's been so I can find the darn thing. It definitely helps him walk without limping.
Hawthorn
They usually get used to them eventually; I put one on Sophie for the first time this week and she was doing the high-stepping I-can't-possibly-walk-in-this thing until she saw a rabbit then she completely forgot about it . You could just make sure the boot isn't pressing or rubbing on something which might be uncomfortable, such as a dew clew. I also usually put a nice thick padded child's sock over the foot inside the boot, which I believe makes them more comfortable for the dog and less likely to rub their sensitive skin.
