Just don't give it to them while they are on antibiotic. Give it to them when they come off of it. This worked much better than yogurt for me. ahicks51 Posted October 19, 2009 Share Posted October 19, 2009 Yogurt may be just as good, but the calcium can lock up the antibiotics; check with a pharmacist before you give the two together. Encapsulated probiotics probably help, but the question is whether the organisms in humans and dogs are interchangeable. Doesn't seem to hurt them, and it may stave off severe damage; as with humans, every now and again, some types of antibiotics can induce IBD.
