Lump/bulge On Gunny's Belly

Apparently the time has passed enabling me to edit my original post.

Just got back from the vet and his opinion was that it is a lipoma. I was able to get a real good feel of it and it's egg shaped and sized. We decided to go ahead and do a fine needle aspiration, results should be available no later than Wednesday, but he felt comfortable that it was indeed a lipoma. I am supposed to monitor it for a few weeks to a month for any changes. I've dealt with these things many times in my other dogs, so as long as that is what it is, I can sleep easy. It doesn't seem to bother Gunny.

Gunny was such a trooper. She HATES going to the vet and today was especially stressful as there were a lot of dogs there and one totally out-of-control yellow lab that wouldn't quit barking...LOUDLY I might add... (Gunny rarely barks...she actually barks and growls more in her sleep than when she is awake!)

Thank you all for your thoughts.

I'm pleased that it was good news!

My Afghan hound Max used to get these, and we had one large one removed - only to have him develop another one in a different place. He lived to a ripe age of 14, so they never hurt him.

I also had a large Lipoma removed from own my arm. It was unsightly, but again, harmless.

I love when I can hear good news in H&M. Give Gunny a big hug for us, sounds like she was such a good girl for the vet!

A lot of the dogs that came into my vets/employer in Florida had Lipomas. Sometimes, they got too big, and got "in the way," so they were removed.

RE: the Lab ... NOT my favorite breed by any means. When they came to stay in our kennel at the vets, most of them "bounced off the walls!" There was Jessie James, 10, and ALL he did was bounce and bark :-( I finally talked his owner into getting him an in-home petsitter.

I had a weimaraner that had quite a few unsightly but harmless lipomas. Hope that's what it turns out to be. Keep us posted.

Keeping all fingers crossed!

We did have a large lipoma removed from our angel whippet when it started growing rapidly. It had gotten involved in the muscle and doc couldn't get 100% of it, but it never did grow back that we could see.

Hoping that that aspiration comes back saying it is a lipoma. My 12.5 year old Lab has one too, just as big. She is not like that yellow Lab though :P
