when i got kinzie a couple of months ago i just thought he was just dopey (which he defintally is haha) and had a little bit of a problem with depth preception. i know that sometimes my dogs have gotten a little eye boogies but he seems to get it only in his right eye, and when i took a closer look he has a blueish ring around the outside of it. i have no idea what it is but it is affecting his vision. if anyone has any suggestions on what this is that would be great! thanks!

we are going to the vet soon becuase he needs to get his shots so ill see what they say then.

With eyes, it is hard to say. Requires a veterinary diagnosis. Goldie has Pannus, which caused a WHITE ring around her eyes. It has been treated since she was four, and she is going great! Good luck with everything!

Check out this thread that Holly posted the link to. Take a look at CKruzan's post. Carl had blue rings and it turned out to be caused by a thyroid problem.

He was put on Soloxine and the rings are going away

:nod Like Cbudshome said, check out that thread. Then, go straight to a reputable veterinary ophthalmologist, if you need a referral from your regular vet get it then go. Stuff like this is just beyond the scope of a regular vet, no matter how much you love them. I'm speaking from experience and having lived through two misdiagnosis by non-specialists.

Good luck and please keep us updated on Kinzie's eyes.

:nod I agree. I LOVE my regular vet, but I went to a veterinary ophthalmologist upon a friend's recommendation to get Kane's eye problem diagnosed. I was glad I did and so was my vet--she said the specialist diagnosed him much more quickly than she ever could have. Good luck and keep us posted.
