Our girl grey, Pistol, was limping yesterday and upon further inspection her right front foot has a pretty swollen toe (the furthest to the outside.) Her activity has been the usual zoomies in the back yard and an afternoon walk. Touching the swollen toe does not coerce a reaction but a slight squeeze to the inflammation does.

Could it be something like a spider bite or something more serious as a broken toe? She was limping a tad the day before yesterday but still went outside and did zoomies before we could stop her yesterday.

Thoughts? Ideas?

Obligatory pic: (not of the swollen toe, but can get one if needed.)

Could be a broken toe, OR a spider bite.

See if you can find a puncture wound anywhere on the toe. Do you have any Deramaxx or Rimadyl? If so, both are anti-inflammatories, and they might help.

I'll ask the wife what is in our arsenal as I'm really not sure what we've got but I know we have antibiotics. Thanks. We figure if it doesn't get much better in a day or two, we'll take her in.

Probably just dislocated and popped back in place. I would leash walk for at least 2-3 weeks (no zoomies!). You can soak in cold water if you want, but that's usually only really helpful in the first 24-36 hours to reduce swelling. I probably wouldn't give any anti-inflammatory unless she seems to really be in pain. If limping gets worse or gets really sentitive to the touch or doesn't seem better in a few week, get some xrays done.
