Guest BradyzMommy
Are hemangiomas always benign? Are they ever anything to worry about? Do they always have to be removed and biopsied? Thanks in advance for any insight.
Burpdog
I think it depends HEMANGIOMA: benign cousin of hemangiosarcoma. Most often seen on spleen and skin tissues. Can rupture and bleed but not as likely to spread as will a hemangiosarcoma. May be treated with surgery. This page has some very good explanations related to cancer. I could not find yet, how ones tells visually the difference between hemangioma and hemangiosarcoma. Guest MnMDogs
Matty had at least one about 3 or 4 years ago that was removed and was benign. I think that she may have had more, but they seemed to appear and disappear without treatment.

Guest Fasave
I'm guessing that it would require surgery and a biopsy. My guy had a lump removed last year and it turned out to be hemangiosarcoma. I watched this lump for a year and a half (did needle biopsy several times) and finally opted for surgery when it appeared to be getting bigger. I was incredibly lucky that after the initial surgery, he had a second surgery and they managed to get clean margins so there was no follow up treatment necessary. Of course I watch it every day but if your pup has this type of cancer, it's doesn't need to be a bad one. Also, RooRoo here on GT was going through the same thing at the same time (even the same place on the pup) and they didn't get clean margins. Dr. Couto directed her to some new injectable chemo treatment. You may want to check in with her as well.
