Guest argolola
I just got a copy of Rudy's lab results from the vet. Does anything jump out, like an odd combo that may mean something? tamborine
That hematocrit seems kind of high....I know it's higher in greys than in other dogs, but Rudy's seems extra high (his hemoglobin looks a little high, too). I don't know if it's indicative of anything, or just a normal variation for him.... MaryJane
Have you talked to the vet about this? 72% for the HCT is on the high side from what I have read. I'm not a vet but with an HCT of 72 I would be on the phone with my vet asking what is causing this and what are we going to do about it. It could be dehydration but it could also be a host of other things ....
Guest argolola
Sorry but I am real dense here. What is HCT? Yes, doctor knows about this entire sheet. He did several other tests too and none of the 6 vets we have seen can figure out anything. Thank you everyone.
RobinM
HCT=hemocrit. high hemocrit could mean dehydration. Did he have "D"??? HCT is an abbreviation for hematocrit - it is the percentage of red blood cells to plasma (the liquid) in the blood. You might want to see if the vets at Ohio State will do a phone consult. Also, the EOS (this is a type of white cell) is a tad on the high side but still within what probably is an OK range. Sometimes this is elevated when there is an allergic reaction to something. What about the rest of the blood work - like the chemistries and the urine?

Burpdog
It's possible to be that high and be ok, however, I'd consult with Ohio State. Platelets are low for the RBC and HCT. Quote Diane & The Senior Gang Burpdog Biscuits
CaliforniaGreys
I'm only familiar with a few of them but they are a bit high. I too would vote for a consult with Ohio State Quote Missing my little Misty who took a huge piece of my heart with her on 5/2/09, and Ekko, on 6/28/12 For the sick, the lost, and the homeless
Guest argolola
Thanks all. Diane, I am going to send Dr. C's contact info to the vet to see if they can consult.
Batmom
Never hurts to consult. RBC and HCT would be normal if he were a bit dehydrated -- those don't look odd to me at all. Platelets are on the lower end of what my vets like to see but they can fluctuate, and that number depends some on how they were counted.
