George was on Tramadol, and while it was newish at the time, it should be readily available. He could always consult with the oncology team at the CARE centre in Calgary regarding dosages and things... George was a trial case on dosages and they far undermedicated him at first (poor guy). Canyon was in so much pain this morning, that I gave him 35MG of Metacam (which he was on 3 weeks ago) on top of the 400MG of Gabapentin (which doesn't seem to be working anymore). HE IS MUCH, MUCH HAPPIER now... wagging his tail and looking bright eyed, alert and content. I think this combination will get him through to his surgery much more comfortably. Guest Annie Posted March 24, 2009 Share Posted March 24, 2009 Canyon is doing well with the Metacam and Gabapentin! No more screaming, although we still get the odd squeak. Now we pray that they have time for him tomorrow and that the surgery is 100% successful!!!!!!!!!! This will be difficult for me. I am accustomed to being present for all my animal's surgeries/procedures. I feel like I'm abandoning him, even though he will be in the best hands. It's awful to have to give up control!
