scullysmum
Ben phoned me at 8.30 last night to say that one of Niles' eyes was weird, the third eyelid was right across and it was nearly closed. So off we went to the e-vet...she couldn't actually find any injury in his eye and ruled out head trauma as he was "normal" otherwise. So he was sent away with eye drops and a buster collar (lampshade ). His eye is apparently a little better this morning, I will see for myself in about half an hour when I go down to walk him (very short walk it is raining cats and dogs here and he detests the rain) and give him his eye drops....and see how much destruction he has managed to wreak with his lampshade A few good thoughts for the boy would be appreciated eta: at least he managed to injure the other eye this time, last year he got a thorn in his right eye p.s That was my second trip to the vets last night, earlier DH and I had taken Miss Sadi in to have her final (hopefully) check up on her toe, the vet was very pleased with her Edited January 22, 2009 by scullysmum Quote <p>"One day I hope to be the person my dog thinks I am"Sadi's Pet Pages Sadi's Greyhound Data PageMulder1/9/95-21/3/04 Scully1/9/95-16/2/05Sadi 7/4/99 - 23/6/13 CroftviewRGT

scullysmum
Niles' eye is looking much better, not perfect but better than I thought it would....the eye drops have obviously done the trick. Hope fully it will be all better in a few days The lampshade is a bit lethal though.....he launched himself at me as usual as soon as I got inside the door and the sharp edge of the collar caught me under the throat ...I checked quickly that my throat was still intact....I really think they need to smooth the edges off on those things It was quite interesting when he did his other favourite thing...goosing me! He quite liked it when I took him for a short potty-break walk as it acted like an umbrella and kept the rain off the top of his noggin p.s. I knew Niles was a big boy but when they asked us to pop him on the scales at the e-vet I was shocked to see he weighed 34 kg (75lbs approx.)...no wonder it hurts when he bounces off my chest He's bigger than both my bridge boys were. ZoomDoggy
Glad he's looking better. Seems he's thoroughly unfazed by the E-collar, eh? Quote ~Aimee, with Flower, Alan, Queenie, & Spodee Odee! Guest siamanti
Thanks for the good thoughts for Niles. His eye is much better today. His lampshade continues to wreak havoc. In the upstairs rooms things are flying left right and center when Niles walks past. Anyway hopefully the thing can come off tomorrow night for the weekend as I am home all day and can watch him. And thanks so much to you Mel for coming with me last night . I was realy grateful as the last time I went to the E-Vet there my poor boy Karlsson was put to sleep. The place holds very bad memories for me! Thanks again! Siamanti

scullysmum
glad you was`nt decapitated by the lampshade, perhaps niles needs a padded one I think it would just be better if he didn't need it at all...he is quite lethal enough without added "weaponry" Quote <p>"One day I hope to be the person my dog thinks I am"Sadi's Pet Pages Sadi's Greyhound Data PageMulder1/9/95-21/3/04 Scully1/9/95-16/2/05Sadi 7/4/99 - 23/6/13 CroftviewRGT
Batmom
Glad to hear he is better and you are still alive ! Eye injuries are the pits. Other injuries, you can usually find a substitute for the hard lampshade, but for eyes, that's apparently the state of the art.
