Guest TaraCoachCougar Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 About three weeks ago, Coach developed an uneven gait when she walked. We were headed to vet with Cougar's corns, so I had the vet look at her toes, legs, back etc. He gave us a 10 day low dose of Deramaxx. When we returned home that night I noticed she had her weight shifted over to her right front leg when she ate supper and was able to determine the uneven gait was coming from a limp with that front left foot. The Deramaxx worked great while she was taking it, but the last two days she has returned to the limp and shifting the weight off. E-mailing the vet update, he replied that we might be looking at a slew of issues such as chronic joint inflammation, degenerative arthritis, bursitis, synovitis, or neoplasia. I'm taking her back in for x-rays on Friday to hopefully rule out a bone lesion and get a better look at what is going on with her joints. I'm hoping for the best and would appreciate all crossed paws. She is 13 1/2. Oh and she has also recently been diagnosed with Pannus which she takes drops for each day (along with her enalapril & dieuritic that she has been on since she was about 5). She has also dropped down to about 50 pounds. I believe her racing weight was about 56, but I always have kept her a little on the fat side. We made a food switch just a few months ago so I'm not sure if she isn't tolerating the food well or if it is related with the limp. Thanks for the good thoughts. Quote
