Guest jurishound
OMG, OMG! Stormy's chemo (adriamycin) was Friday, and he hasn't eaten a meal since Friday night! We have tried everything, and more. He won't touch any of my usual standbys - baby food, Batmom's Meatloaf, Vanilla Ensure, scrambled eggs, rotisserie chicken - the only thing he has eaten in the last 24 hours is a Frosty Paws! I am going to call the Oncology Center and see if we can try (cerenia?) but am really, really staring to panic. He seems so tired.

CaliforniaGreys
The Cerenia is a really good drug. When Misty started the anti-cancer drug that really helped her. No idea on the food, but consider the Nutritional Yeast which will increase his appetite plus they usually love it. Keeping this handsome boy in our prayers. And yeh for the ice cream!!! Guest ChasesMum
canned catfood? Maybe freeze the ensure? poor boy...and poor you! that really blows. I remember George's last days, when he wouldnt eat, and its just the most helpless feeling in the world. So much of my brain was thinking about what might tempt him to eat even a couple bites. Hotdogs? umm cat treats? peanutbutter icecream? catfood icecream? lol blah. EAT HANDSOME MAN!
Batmom
Not time to panic yet, OK? Try the cerenia if your vet approves, and if that doesn't work out, try pepcid. In our somewhat limited experience, reglan worked better to quell "I'm going to throw up right now, on your rug" nausea; pepcid worked better at producing an appetite. Gentle hugs for you and your boy. Guest EmilyAnne
Is there any chance vitamin B would help? I think this is a vitamin that helps with appetite? Steak has vitamin B right? (just trying to drum up some more ideas) I believe nutritional yeast helps with appetite too right? Perhaps make a sort of gravy with nutritional yeast and mix in with some boiled and pureed steak? (Don't drain all of the water when you are done boiling steak. Moisture makes it more palatable) I'm so sorry for what a rough time you and Stormy are going through. I will be ing for you both. Guest jurishound
I just spoke to the oncologist and he will prescribe cerenia, but thinks it is more likely that the anorexia is related to the hemangiosarcoma than the chemo. We will give the cerenia 24 - 48 hours to work and go from there. I will look for frozen biljac and nutritional yeast - thank you.
Guest KRKWMU
The Cerenia has worked wonders for a lot of hounds, including our lymphoma girl, Bonnie. I hope that helps Stormy get his appetite back. Have you tried switching dishes??? We switched to a "human" bowl and that changed things for the better with Bonnie. I know how stressful and frustrating it is. Hope the Cerenia turns things around.
