Partially Blind

Treat her like any other normal dog and you'll hardly notice she's blind. :) If she's been blind since birth, she's probably well adjusted to life with partial sight. Just be careful when approaching her if she's lying down with her blind side facing out. Call her name and make it very obvious (with sounds) that you're coming to her.

Kudos to you for thinking about adopting her! It's really special to have a blind dog and also very easy to live with one. :thumbs-up

100% agree with Brindles. Her blindness in one eye will not affect her quality of life nor the love she will show you. A double kudos for thinking about adopting her!

I'm blind in one eye myself. Just don't let her pour your coffee. No depth perception. :P

Seriously, a creature blind in one eye from birth has made lots of adjustments. There shouldn't be any problems.

You'll want to check her other eye regularly, though, for injury or disease.

Best wishes.

Not relevant to your situation anymore, since this pup is pending...but for anyone else who might be reading this thread, I wouldn't hesitate to adopt a partially sighted dog. Our girl Scout hasn't been blind since birth, but she lost sight in one eye due to an injury at some point and raced for over a year blind in her left eye. Here at home, she loves to do agility and has even jumped up and caught birds in the air. No problems whatsoever. The only thing I'd mention is with any visually challenged dog, I'd plan on yearly (roughly) check ups with a board certified opthamologist.
