Guest FireHorse Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 (edited) Poor Luke. He clearly doesn't feel good. He's snippy and snarly (took a chunk out of Jet yesterday-not big, but drew blood) and gimpy. He has what I think is a corn on his back left foot, but that's also his weird knee. It's deformed, compared to the other one, or maybe I mean malformed. In any case, it looks really different than the other side. It's not a nice sleek curve; it's almost squared, and definitely bumpy. It reminds me of an old man's arthritic fingers, and that's what I think it is. I noticed today that when he sphinxes he goes down funny and his hips end up cockeyed, with that leg noticeably out of position compared to the other one. Whatever the problem, he has an appointment tomorrow to see Dr C and get it figured out. I'm not expecting anything more major than arthritis, but would appreciate good thoughts, just in case. Guest FireHorse Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 (edited) UPDATE It was a corn. Dr C hulled it and said it was kinda odd-bigger around than the end of a pencil eraser, but flat and shallow. She also felt that it was causing enough pain that it was throwing Luke's gait off, which was in turn causing his gimpy knee to be gimpier than usual. She confirmed that his knee *is* arthritic. She thinks that now that the corn is gone, his gait will go back to normal, and so will his knee. (Well, normal for him.) She gave him prevacox for a couple days, and if that doesn't help, then we'll go back for xrays, etc. In the meantime, she recced Abrieva for the divot left by the corn, in the hopes of preventing a recurrence. Currently Luke is sleeping the sleep of the traumatized. He did really well well for Dr C, especially since she was bending his owie knee six ways from Sunday and pinching his toe. He did give her the hairy eyeball a couple times, but never actually growled...even if you could see he was thinking about it. Dr C gave him a cookie for being a good boy, and so did the tech (and the receptionist!) on the way out. Meant to say, thanks for all the good thoughts! The definitely helped. Me, anyway-I'm not sure Luke noticed. Edited October 7, 2008 by FireHorse Quote
