Limping And Limping And Limping And Limping

Maple is having so much trouble getting around in the world. She loves life on the inside--throwing her big blue shark across the room, roaching in bed with mom, washing my face, heckling her brother, murdering her toys. But on walks, whole different story.

She's been limping since about April. She's been tested for Lyme and other tickborne diseases, x-rayed everywhere, had complete blood work, been on and off rimadyl, and has been taking glucosamine/MSM since July with no improvement. She's a wart maker, so I've checked everyone of her precious toes until both of us were blue in the face. I keep on checking. In the past, I've known what her warts looks like. I don't think I'm finding anything.

I'm about to take her back to the vet in a week. I can't bear thinking that my beloved little girl's days of walking comfortably are over--she's only 8.

The limp is in the front. Sometimes it makes her stumble. There's no swelling, no sensitivity to pressure or range of motion. Just nothing remarkable anywhere. In the house, she can be wonderfully rambunctious, although I see that she's treating her left front leg a little bit cautiously. On her walks, she prefers to do her business and hobble right back in. I'm ready to throw money at an MRI if I absolutely have to. It would sure be nice if the right answer just rose to the surface magically.

Does anyone have any other ideas for us?

Have you noticed what surfaces outside that she limps on? In the house, is she on carpet when she plays around without much limping? Maybe it has something to do with the ground she is walking on outside? I hope its something that easy. Good luck.

Could it be the start of a corn? When QM started limping on his, I could barely see it, looked like a tiny black dot on the bottom of his right front pad. After a year it has turned into a nasty corn that won't go away!

Corns, corns, corns-hate them but sure sounds like that what your dealing with. Wet the bottom of the pads and look closely (even use a magnifying glass)--look for a little tiny black dot. Sometimes you need to use oil to keep the pad moist while hunting. Corns are the worst

You might want to try getting some thera paw boots to put on the side where the limping is. Flash started walking only on grass when outside, and even trys to stay on rugs instead of the wood floors inside. He seem so much better when he has them on. (that's after the initial bout of foot shake and funny walking when I first put them on.)
