Guest SLM4956 Posted October 1, 2008 Posted October 1, 2008 WOW!! What an exciting adventure!! I talked DH in to allowing us to adopt a Greyhound finally!! We had to wait quite a while to find a girl that was good with cats. We got a call from our Adoption Coordinator telling us that she had found our girl! She traveled from Florida and we picked her up on Saturday, 8/27/2008. I guess that is our Gotcha Day!! MN's Anna Marie is home!! She has been absolutely amazing!! Both DH & I are thrilled with her demeanor and attitude!! She is a joy!! She is a little odd looking.....she is missing 1/2 an ear!! It was kind of funny actually...There were 3 other dogs adopted and they were all stunningly beautiful. And then out comes our little girl. DH said OMG she has half an ear!! She was very stressed and seemed a little off. On the ride home, she settled down nicely and has been a gem ever since!! She is doing great with the cats, except for when they got her attention and she actually stood up...LOL They flipped and scattered! They have been in and out of the living room watching her so we are hopeful...... We did receive her Bertillion Card with the adoption papers, which was exciting! She was born 3/18/05. Her sire was Asti Axel and her dam was Hi Candy Cain. The ear that was ripped off had her NGA# in it (Does anyone know if this may have been the reason for her retirement??) She was not a very good racer, apparently she ran 35 races and only won. She raced at Orange Park and I was able to watch the race where she won via video. I was balling like a baby!!! She might not have done well on the trak, but that's okay with us ...She is a winner in our hearts Even DH the cat guy has come around and adores her!! We renamed her Marigot after our favorite island St Maarten! She is catching on to her name very quickly!! Introducing Marigot ............. Our first night, she seemed a little stressed but very loving Her messed up little ear...Looks like someone took most of it off.... Her collar that I won from the Miss Nellie Auction She is even playing!! She is a riot!! She goes for a minute and then sleeps for an hour!! She even sleeps like the cats with her tongue sticking out.... WELCOME TO YOUR FOREVER HOME Mn's Anna Marie !!!! Quote

ozgirl2 Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 Welcome home, Marigot! I hope I get to meet her at some point!! Just remember... you can take her to ANY meet & greets, not just for your group!! hint, hint, hint... My Cody had pieces missing off BOTH her ears! One had a big chunk missing & the other had healed badly & had a little curved area. And it DID give her character!!
