RobinM
Out of the blue, Polli is not bearing any weight on her right front leg. She went out t 3AM and she was OK, but when we got up to start our day several hours later, I noticed a limp. She wanted to do the after breakfast walk, but I kept her home while DH took the others. I just gave her 50mg of deramaxx and will watch it for a few days. Last Sept. she had the same type of limp in the left front that underwent 2 sets of x-rays that were sent to different hospitals for viewing and they saw nothing. It took 6 LONG weeks to get better and then it was like nothing ever happened. Please pray that it's nothing but another soft tissue injury from jumping on and off our very, very high bed. As she gets older, I get more scared. She is almost 10. It's nothing, cause it just can't be. MerlinsMum
Robin, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it's nothing. Also, since she seems prone to these soft tissue injuries, is there any way you can maybe prevent her from jumping on your very high bed? Hopefully it's nothing too serious. I know we all worry about the big C, but it could be so many other things... especially with her history of limping in the past (which turned out to be something else, even though it took a long time to heal). CaliforniaGreys
Polli, you need to knock it off!! I swear that limping puts the fear of God into all of us. Hoping it's nothing Robin. I know you'll keep us posted. RobinM
is there any way you can maybe prevent her from jumping on your very high bed? We tried the stairs on the side of the bed for 2 months and then returned them as she would not use them. I have noticed she is giving more thought to jumping as opposed to just jumping right now. Sometimes we lift her, but if we are not home, she is going to do it anyway. This is the room we keep them in when we are not home so there are no options. There are 6 other dog beds in our bedroom so it's not like there are no other choices! We have a "well check" for Beau next Sat. if Polli is showing no signs of getting better, we will bring her in too. patricia
Sending prayers for sweet Polli. Angel Cody Angelo had a bad disc in his neck that caused limping...and he would refuse to turn his head when he had a flare up. It broke our hearts...but he had 6 weeks of sleeping in his crate and was not allowed up on our bed. We could lift him up and down...but sometimes he would jump down in the night. He also was not allowed to jump on any furniture...and it was really hard. Hope Polli feels better real soon...and....this IS a nothing! Quote Patti-Mommy of Lady Sophia 7-28-92 - 8-3-04... I've got Teddy having acupuncture since january for his disk issues, Beau just started acupuncture for his hind end issues which we have NO idea of what we are addressing. And they are ONLY 4! Now, Polli with a limp. I am trying to be very matter of fact about it and just do what we have to do. And I thank GOD and DH we can do this for them, but man... it's very emotiionally draining. Polli may be almost 10 in years but she has the spunk and spirit of a goofy 3 year old. It's got to be a sprain. In my heart that's what I believe. Guest greyscot
Best wishes for Polli. It does sound that it is more likely to be a sprain but I completely understand your panic. for Polli.

Remolacha
I know how you feel, that limping will scare the **** out of you! I hope it is just soft tissue or sprain. Do you know if she was ever in CA or the southwest? Valley Fever can cause unexplained limping that comes and goes.
