TheFullHouse Posted August 25, 2008 Share Posted August 25, 2008 Emmy's back from the vet and the news is good, mostly any way. The only bad part, she now weighs 58lbs. The last time they weighed her was when she had her cushings test and she weighed 64lbs. then and she was down from 70lbs. so our main goal right now is to get some weight back on our skinny girl!!!!! Her jaw, it's muscle atrophe and she may never get it back. The worst case scenerio, she will eat blended food for the rest of her life. NO BIG DEAL!!! I CAN DO THAT!!! I'm actually getting pretty good at it. The lymph nodes, well, now we know why I'm not a vet. Her nodes are fine, I was feeling her salivary glands and they feel huge because she's lost so much weight!!! So besides being way too skinny, being blind and having Cushings, our girl is doing well! He said her muscle deteriation has slowed quite a lot and her body looks great. As soon as she's strong enough we will start daily walks with her so she doesn't lose any more muscle mass. He wants to start her back on the Cushings meds and has given me something for nausea in case she stops eating again because she's sick to her stomach. We will attempt to do this tomorrow and see how it goes. Now, I just have to see how many calories I can get in to her to put some weight back on!!!!! But slow and steady progress over a couple of months will show good results now that Emmy is eating again. It's so hard - we want them to gain weight instantly but you are doing a terrific job.
