Guest Greensleeves
So we brought Nelly home, after her 5 long days of IV fluid therapy for her kidneys, and we're absolutely thrilled to finally have her back. I'm sure she's relieved to be home, too. The good is that she's home, and they were able to lower her blood values earlier in the week, and keep them low. The bad is, the values didn't go down any farther... and she still won't eat. I'm completely stumped. This is a dog that would eat ANYTHING, any time, anywhere... and now that her numbers are better than they were three months ago, she won't eat anything. I can't understand why she doesn't feel better! :weep I know we're all frustrated and tired, and we need to give it time, but still. If it worked, why didn't Nelly get the memo?? Batmom
Glad she's home! Do you think she could just be worn out / weirded out from her few days away? If you were just a bit closer, I'd invite her for dinner tonight. We're having chicken livers. Guest greytbookert
Glad that Nelly is home! Come on Nelly, you have to eat! Have you tried smelly things to try and entice her to eat, such as jack mackeral, parmesan cheese?
Guest greyscot
I feel for you. I have the same problem. Try ANYTHING and I mean ANYTHING. Shirley my non grey would only eat fish for days on end and it is almost pure protein which is not good for kidney patients. BUT it started her eating again. Believe me it really is trial and error and it is an emotional roller coaster and emotionally draining. Good luck to you and
TheFullHouse
Emmy had not eaten well or much of anything for weeks until on the suggestion of Xan and the generosity of Claudia that we started adding Nutritional Yeast to her food and she is eating like a champ now. We have to put it all in a blender but she's eating!
